Profile: Hello, i’m Blake. I am an Australian who grew up in Swaziland, which is a small little kingdom in Africa. I love travelling, so decided to attend university in Canada in 2006 and have been here ever since.

2012 Goals: This year is going to be huge!! My goals are to have UBC and SFU both be in the top ten campuses in terms of production company wide, be awarded Field Sales Leader of the year, and have a blast along the way. When I hit my goals, my reward will be to pay for my mother and my brother to fly over to Canada for the first time.

Why Southwestern: I have been building my business for 6 summers now, and there are a few reasons I keep on coming back. First of all, I come back because the people I work with are exceptional. I find that I am able to look up to and learn from everybody I get to work with. Secondly, I come back because I get to learn new skills. The first few years were all about learning to communicate effectively and developing self discipline an good work habits. The last few years have been about developing as a leader. In short, this environment is good for personal growth. The last reason I come back is because I love my schedule! I am happy to work really hard over a short period of time so that I can have a large amount of free time later on in the year. It just works for me.

Biggest Challenge: Being organized!! This has been a life long struggle, and each year I have got better at this. However, it still does not come naturally and requires continuous effort.

Biggest Benefits: Students can travel, gain awesome experience, earn a huge pile o’ money, and experience some awesome personal growth along the way IF, AND ONLY IF, they are willing to pay the price of hard work, commitment, consistent effort, patience, and discipline. There are no shortcuts.

Interesting Fact: Like Jay, I have gone sky diving. However, after I jumped out of the plane, the plane crashed.
